hi, i just joined up on this tribe.
Ive been into avant and experimental film for awhile, have messed around with Vegas alot and have decided i want to get my hands dirty actually shooting things. Kenneth Anger's stuff is probly closest to what i want to do.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a "best bang for the buck" camera that cost under a $1k?
From my research so far ive got reviews mostly on higher end stuff like the Canon XL2. I really dont need superb quality, just something that will shoot in a resolution that could actually be shown if it ever came to producing something good.
Or is anyone of the opinion that it would just be a waste of money to go at this price level and just save up for something like the Canon GL2?
thanks
nate

Re: best camera under $1000
Fri, February 18, 2005 - 9:42 AMThere are some Panasonic "prosumer" offerings around $1K (probably more with a good mic and some xtras.) I'd just add here that you need good sound as well. Don't scrimp on that. The video can be sub-par (not crap but just good) the audio is an entirely different story.
